The Canada Carbon Rebate for individuals has ended: on March 15, 2025, the Government of Canada stopped the federal fuel charge and the rebate, and there are no quarterly payments after the April 2025 payment. It was paid only in Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan, never in British Columbia, Quebec or the territories. If you lived in one of those provinces, were eligible, and have not yet filed your tax return for 2024, 2023, 2022 or 2021, you can still get those payments once the returns are assessed: a resident of Canada does not apply, only files a return for each year, even with no income to report; a newcomer applies by form.
