Who qualifies
A parent or caregiver who lives with a child under 18, is mainly responsible for the child's care and is a Canadian tax resident (citizen, permanent resident, protected person, registered under the Indian Act, or temporary resident who has lived in Canada for the past 18 months and has a valid permit); for July 2026 to June 2027 the maximum is $8,157 a year per child under 6 and $6,883 per child aged 6 to 17, reduced once 2025 adjusted family net income is above $38,237.
