A federal grant you never pay back of up to $4,200 a year ($525 per month of study) for the 2026 to 2027 school year, for full-time students with financial need; in Ontario you get it by applying for OSAP. If you have a dependant under 12 at the start of your study period, or older with a permanent disability, the same application also gives a grant you do not pay back of up to $280 per month of study, or up to $2,240 a year, for each dependant.
Who qualifies
Full-time students in a qualified program at a designated school who have financial need and whose family income is under the cut-off (for example, a 1-person family gets the full grant up to $38,474 and nothing above $69,987; a family of 4 gets the full grant up to $76,952 and nothing above $129,769); most students at private for-profit schools no longer qualify.
