The City can cancel or put off (defer) your property tax increase, and give you a rebate on the water and solid waste parts of your utility bill. The cancellation is only for homes assessed below $975,000. If you qualify, the amounts are applied to your account, and you must reapply every year with your documents, by November 2, 2026 for the 2026 tax year.
Who qualifies
Low-income seniors and people on disability benefits who own and live in their Toronto home. People over 50 with a pension can get the deferral and the rebates, but not the cancellation.

- Household income of $62,000 or less

- Unaltered CRA Notice of Assessment or Reassessment
- Proof of age if you apply as a senior for the first time
- Proof of disability benefits or pension, if it applies
